We want to shed light where it is dark and give hope in times of despair. We know too well the anguish and helplessness when a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. It is our goal to spread love to these children and their families in various forms, whether for specific needs, financial relief, emotional support, or assorted gifts. We are based in Las Vegas, NV. We hope to eventually spread the love far and wide. For now, we support those within our reach.
Within a few months of starting the organization, we donated gift baskets to three pediatric hemodialysis patients. Hemodialysis patients receive in-clinic treatments 2-3 days a week, lasting up to 4 hours long. We understand the physical and emotional toll of hemodialysis, so these patients have a special place in our hearts.
The gift baskets contained renal-friendly dinner essentials, seasonal craft activities, sugar-free candies, and more.
The inaugural holiday gifting was made possible by a special donor. Because of her generosity, we were able to fulfill wish lists by 12 pediatric dialysis patients. The clinic staff assisted with obtaining their wish lists to make the gifts meaningful and personal.
Our mission is much greater than holiday gifts, but it was such a joy to deliver them with our family and supporters.
Hugs & Kidneys has played a vital role in ensuring our pediatric patients and their families had food and gifts during the holidays. Some of the families face financial struggles and find it difficult to give some of the things their children need. Thankfully, Hugs & Kidneys stepped-in and made the holiday season a little more easier for them. On Thanksgiving each child that had dialysis in our clinic received a care package that included several key ingredients to make their Thanksgiving memorable. During Christmas each child created a list of the presents they had wanted to receive during the holiday season and Hugs & Kidneys delivered. Each and every single child received not only one present, but all the presents they had listed on their wish list. The smile on the faces of the kids radiated throughout the facility and their family were so happy for them to receive these gifts. Our facility are very thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with this organization and we're hoping to connect more in the future. - Laurence F., 1/31/24
When our son went into end-stage renal failure our life was completely upended. We jumped headfirst into a routine of dialysis, doctor visits, lab draws, hospitalizations and hoping for a miracle. Unexpectedly, Hugs & Kidneys reached out to us and it's hard to put into words the appreciation our family has for this. From a surprise Thanksgiving care package when the idea of shopping was far from our minds. To Christmas presents specifically chosen for our son which lit up his face and made our day. The gratitude extends far beyond any physical gifts Hugs & Kidneys generously gave out. It's the empathetic words, the genuine desire to help in any capacity. It's a support system of people who know what you're going through that provides a resource of compassion and knowledge. We didn't expect the gift of Hugs & Kidneys but are forever grateful for their help in our journey. - Chris, 2/10/24
